PS&S moves into new corporate headquarters in Warren

PS&S truly is practicing what it preaches.

Monday morning, the architecture, engineering and environmental consulting firm announced it has completed the move to a new, 44,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Warren — one that incorporates updated designs and features with COVID-19-related planning in mind.

CEO John Sartor said the company is thrilled to be staying in Warren, its home for more than 50 years.

“With our new space, we are able to offer our employees a flexible, adaptable and sustainable workplace, which is particularly important now,” he said.

Sartor noted PS&S modified the space because of the pandemic, making significant changes, including:

  • More spacing for employees;
  • Reimagined reception area;
  • Redone conference rooms;
  • Rethought kitchen/food areas;
  • Added partitions between workspaces;
  • Increased sanitization stations;
  • Focus on personal hygiene.

“We were able to do many of the same things we recommend to our clients — putting more space between cubicles, cutting down on the use of fabric, reducing or automating touch points for light switches and other measures that help to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the air and on surfaces,” Sartor said.

“One of our biggest changes came in conference room design. What had originally been planned as meeting rooms for large groups to work together creatively has now become a technology hub for people to meet virtually from home or other office locations.”

Founded in 1962, PS&S has evolved into a unique, best-in-class architecture, engineering and environmental consulting firm, providing design and permitting services to a wide range of corporate, institutional and commercial clients. PS&S is ranked among the top national design firms by Engineering News Record (and among the Top 15 national engineering firms in pharmaceuticals).

The company also has been on a growth spurt.

In addition to the new headquarters, over the past few years, the company has been opening smaller regional offices closer to its clients. PS&S has a total of nine offices, primarily in the Northeast, and, despite pandemic-related obstacles, the company recently opened new locations in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and Houston.

The new headquarters, at 3 Mountainview Road, is a Class A 105,000-square-foot, three-story building. Recent improvements include a complete renovation of the building’s lobby and cafeteria, and the addition of a 75-person common conference facility, as well as a new fitness center.

Also, in response to COVID-19, the building’s owners upgraded the air handlers.

PS&S worked with broker Newmark to sign a long-term lease in September 2019 with landlord Kushner Real Estate Group to make the move from its previous corporate headquarters.
