The Cra-Z-Art brand of arts and crafts supplies, owned by Randolph-based LaRose Industries LLC, has acquired Mattel’s Arts, Crafts, Stationery business, including its RoseArt brand, it announced Thursday.
The acquisition also includes products such as the Rose Moon brand, USA Gold and Titanium pencils, Fun Dough and more. It also includes the Rose Moon pencil factory in Tennessee.
It represents a homecoming for the RoseArt brand, which was founded in 1923 by Isidor Rosen and eventually led by Lawrence Rosen, the third-generation head of what is now LaRose. The RoseArt company was sold to Mega Bloks in 2005, and Mega Bloks was eventually purchased by Mattel.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have the legendary RoseArt name back in the family,” Rosen said in a prepared statement. “I spent over 30 years imagining and building this brand, alongside my father, Sydney, and brother, Jeffrey, and I am so happy to call it my own once again.”
Lawrence Rosen, after leading the sale of RoseArt, went on to found Cra-Z-Art.
“Of course, RoseArt is also a perfect complement to our current popular arts and crafts segment,” he said.
