If there is a downside to showing your employer how easily and effectively you can work from home, it’s this: There are no snow days.
At least, not for adults.
Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency that went into effect at 7 p.m. Sunday night. And, while Murphy said all state offices are closed Monday, he said private companies and businesses should dismiss their employees at their own discretion.
Many school districts began announcing schools will have a traditional snow day Monday. So, at least kids get that traditional day in what has been a year like no other.
Here’s what we know is opened/closed:
- Vaccines sites: The state’s six mega-vaccination sites will be closed Monday. Assume most other sites will be, too. Murphy said those scheduled Monday will get a new appointment this week. But, considering how the appointment system is working, there’s no guarantee.
- Roadways: They are supposed to be limited to essential vehicles, but that definition isn’t clear. This much is clear: Commercial vehicles (tractor-trailers, passenger cars with trailers and CDL-weighted trucks) were banned on parts of the state’s nine highways as of noon Sunday.
- New Jersey Transit closed: All bus and rail lines, light rail and Access Link service (except the Atlantic City Rail Line) will be suspended Monday.
