Arbittier named to head service lines at Atlantic Health

Physician brings decades of experience in clinical medicine and health care administration

Dr. Douglas Arbittier has joined Atlantic Health System as vice president, service lines — a role in which he will oversee the operations for care provided through the system’s key services, including cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and women’s health.

In the role, Arbittier will work to ensure Atlantic Health service lines continue to grow to meet the ever-changing needs of all health care consumers, including inpatient, outpatient and preventive services.

Arbittier, who will provide strategic and clinical leadership, will have a role in driving the continued clinical excellence that helps define the care delivered across the system.

“I am thrilled to join the team at Atlantic Health System in finding innovative and transformative ways to deliver the care our patients need,” he said. “Throughout the pandemic the service line teams at Atlantic Health System have delivered leading quality and life-improving care, in a safe environment. I look forward to collaborating across the system to continue this mission and find new ways to serve the friends, families and neighborhoods within our communities.”

Arbittier comes to Atlantic Health System after spending 17 years with Wellspan Health, where he served in both clinical and administrative roles, culminating in leadership of the oncology and surgical service lines.

Prior to that, he was chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at York Hospital and president of the medical staff at WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital located in York, Pennsylvania.

Amy Perry, CEO, Hospital Division at Atlantic, said Arbittier will have great impact.

“Doug brings a seasoned approach to growing and developing service lines,” she said. “His focus on patient experience, quality and growth will greatly benefit our community.”

Arbittier earned his medical degree and did his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee.
