Atlantic Health offering vaccine passports, connection to nationwide Health Pass program

Atlantic Health System is giving people who were vaccinated at an Atlantic Health facility the ability to access and share their proof of COVID-19 vaccination through a digital vaccine card on their mobile device.

The card comes through a partnership with CLEAR, a New York City-based company that specializes in digital ID platforms. Using the free CLEAR app, vaccinated New Jerseyans now have the option to create a digital version of their paper vaccination card.

Additionally, Atlantic Health patients will now be able to seamlessly link their proof of vaccination to Health Pass by CLEAR. Health Pass is a free experience on the CLEAR app that securely links a user’s verified identity to COVID-related health information to get people back to what they know and love.

More than 60 organizations across the country use Health Pass to create safer environments, including corporate offices, teams across all professional sports leagues, major venues and travel destinations.

Atlantic Health System officials say they are the first health care system to partner with CLEAR to allow patients to seamlessly share their vaccination records.

Atlantic Health CEO Brian Gragnolati said the system feels the partnership has strong value.

“Having administered more than half a million doses of vaccines to our patients and team members, Atlantic Health System is proud to partner with CLEAR so that, together, we can provide easier access to the enjoyable and memorable experiences we have put on hold for so long,” he said.

Here’s how it will work:

  • Enrollment: Users download the free CLEAR app, open the blue digital vaccine card feature, and then verify their identity by uploading an identifying document and snapping a quick selfie;
  • Linking: After providing consent, users then search for Atlantic Health System from CLEAR’s list of providers and they can then securely link their account by logging into their Atlantic Health patient portal through the CLEAR app;
  • Utilization: Once a digital vaccine card is created, users can share their verified proof of vaccination anywhere and anytime they would like. Additionally, the digital vaccine card automatically links to Health Pass to create a frictionless entry at participating Health Pass locations.

Both Atlantic Health and CLEAR said the program comes with a level of privacy — and that Health Pass partners only receive confirmation that a user has satisfied the requirements for access with the equivalent of a red light or green light signal.
