COVID-19 vaccine mega-site opens at Bridgewater Commons

The New Jersey Department of Health, Somerset County and RWJBarnabas Health officials joined forces to open the Somerset County Regional COVID-19 vaccine mega-site in Bridgewater, at Bridgewater Commons, the health care facilities announced this week.

The Bridgewater vaccination mega-site, at 400 Commons Way, will administer Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, as well as booster and third dose vaccines. The site is also equipped with a special sensory room to accommodate young children and residents with special needs.

Individuals can walk in or register online for an appointment at rwjbh.org/bridgewater. The mega-site will be open from 2-7 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.

“For the past year, Somerset County has worked hard with our partners like the state of New Jersey and RWJBarnabas Health to get as many residents vaccinated as possible, and the result has been the highest vaccination rate in the state,” Somerset County Commissioner Director Shanel Robinson said. “But we’ve still got work to do, and are thrilled to have this mega-site in Somerset County and encourage everyone to come by and ‘Give Your Holidays a Boost.’”

“We are proud to partner with Somerset County and the state of New Jersey in standing up this vaccination site here in Bridgewater,” said Barry Ostrowsky, CEO and president of RWJBarnabas Health. “This mega-site represents the next vital step in expanding access into our communities so that all eligible residents, children 5-11, 12-16 and residents 16-plus can get and stay protected from this virus and its variants.”

Teams from RWJBarnabas Health, Somerset County and the National Guard are coordinating efforts at the site to operate, to staff and ensure maximum safety and efficiency of the vaccination effort. Together, staff members are currently on-site to provide services including security, registration, vaccination and medical observation.
