The moves, which were announced in February, became official this week at the company’s annual shareholder meeting.

Shavel also was elected to the company’s board of directors, joining three others who were added: Jeffrey Dailey, Wendy Lane and Kimberly Stevenson.

Shavel, who had been serving as chief financial officer and a group president, said he was eager for the challenge.

“Verisk has a profound opportunity to help the insurance industry evolve in a new digital environment, integrate and activate rapidly growing data sets and achieve new levels of efficiency,” he said. “With our industry knowledge, technical expertise and established client relationships, we are uniquely positioned to address their needs as an essential technology partner.

Verisk officials said Shavel’s replacement as CFO will be named at a later date.
