Edmund Optics names president as new CEO

Edmund Optics, a Barrington-based provider of optical and imaging components, has named a new CEO, it announced this week.

Samuel Sadoulet, an experienced business leader with the organization, will succeed Robert Edmund effective immediately. Edmund has retired, and Marisa Edmund has been appointed chair of the board of directors, which chose the new CEO.

Sadoulet has 25 years of management and engineering experience with Edmund Optics, and has held several operational roles during his career, serving most recently as president and chief operating officer.

“Samuel has the unique blend of vision, technical expertise and global business acumen to lead the company into the future,” Marisa Edmund said in a prepared statement. “Samuel has played such a vital role in the expansion and growth of our company, and I look forward to our continued partnership.”

Edmund Optics has been in business since 1942 and currently employs more than 1,110 people and operates more than a dozen major facilities worldwide.

“Optical technology is shaping the future, and Edmund Optics is well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of both our current and future customers,” Sadoulet said. “I thank Marisa and the board of directors for their trust in me as we embark on this next chapter of our 80-year history.”
