NJII achieves coveted level of risk assurances regarding protecting sensitive information

HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year certification validates New Jersey Innovation Institute efforts, places it in elite group of organizations worldwide

New Jersey Innovation Institute, a leading provider of innovative and transformative services, announced Tuesday that its key implemented systems have earned the highest certified assurance status available for information security by HITRUST.

HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year Certified status demonstrates that the organization has met key regulations and industry-defined requirements and is appropriately managing risk. This achievement places New Jersey Innovation Institute in an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification.

As an organization managing and working with federal and state governments to achieve large-scale transformation and interoperability, NJII felt it important to prioritize a top-level information security stature. Not only simply to safeguard critical data, but to continue to expand on programs focusing on improving quality, efficiency and patient outcomes.

NJII officials said they offer a variety of advisory services that enable innovation and quality improvement through several consulting and technology solutions.

Jennifer D’Angelo, senior vice president and general manager at NJII, health care division, said the recognition will have impact.

“HealthIT organizations are continually under pressure to meet complex compliance and privacy requirements that include technical and process elements such as NIST and ISO,” she said. “We are pleased to demonstrate the highest standards for data protection and information security by achieving HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year Certification.”

By including federal and state regulations, standards and frameworks, and incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST Assurance Program helps organizations address security and data protection challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls. To achieve certification, NJII’s core information technology team underwent HITRUST Risk-based 2-year validated assessment for 14 months that required a higher level of effort, which delivered the highest level of assurance for the organization.
