PAX Health, a behavioral health care company backed by HCAP Partners and funds managed by Hamilton Lane, said Sept. 23 that it bought Neuropsychology and Counseling Associates, an outpatient mental health practice serving patients in New Jersey.
The acquisition enhances PAX Health’s portfolio of specialized mental health services and expands its geographic footprint in New Jersey, strengthening the company’s ability to deliver neuropsychological evaluations, cognitive training, and comprehensive behavioral healthcare across diverse patient populations.
“Neuropsychology and Counseling Associates has established an outstanding reputation for providing specialized neuropsychological care and comprehensive mental health treatment,” said Anthony DeSena, CEO of PAX Health.
“Their team’s expertise in clinical neuropsychology, memory support services, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches adds significant value to our service offerings and aligns perfectly with our mission to improve access to comprehensive behavioral healthcare, further supporting the expansion of our geographic footprint.”
Founded by Theodore J. Batlas, neuropsychologist and former chief of psychology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neuropsychology and Counseling Associates has more than 30 years of experience providing mental health services.
The practice specializes in clinical neuropsychology, memory support services, dementia screening, cognitive training, forensic neuropsychology, rehabilitation, biofeedback, and marriage and family counseling. Their staff is licensed and certified in clinical neuropsychology, clinical psychology, rehabilitation, biofeedback, and marriage and family counseling.
“We are truly excited about our partnership with PAX Health, as it will significantly enhance our ability to provide comprehensive neuropsychological services to a wider population,” said Michael P. Heptig, clinical neuropsychologist, co-director and partner at Neuropsychology and Counseling Associates. “Addressing the increasing demand for behavioral health services has been a considerable challenge in recent years. We are confident that this partnership will enable us to more effectively meet the needs of our community.”
This acquisition represents another significant step in PAX Health’s growth strategy, supported by health-care-focused private equity firm HCAP Partners and funds managed by global investment management firm Hamilton Lane.
The integration will enhance PAX Health’s ability to deliver customized behavioral health solutions while preserving Neuropsychology and Counseling Associates’ established approach to specialized neuropsychological care.
PAX Health’s latest acquisition follows its purchase in April of Richardson Psychiatric Associates, an outpatient psychiatric practice serving patients in western Pennsylvania.
