Glass joins Environmental Group at Gibbons P.C.

Michele Glass has joined Gibbons P.C. as a director in the Environmental Group, the firm announced Tuesday. She will work out of the firm’s office in Newark.

Glass brings nearly two decades of experience in all aspects of environmental law. From litigation to corporate and real estate transactions, regulatory matters, insurance, sustainability and environmental justice considerations, her practice has focused on providing timely, pragmatic and thoughtful counsel to a diverse, sophisticated clientele.

She possesses extensive knowledge of state and federal environmental statutes and regulations, including remediation standards and reporting obligations. And her expertise also extends to health and safety considerations.

Glass previously served as corporate counsel in the environmental and sustainability law group at Pfizer, where she provided strategic advice focused on protection of employee health and safety, the community and the environment, as well as on sustaining compliance with internal, domestic and international environmental, health, safety and sustainability and emerging obligations.

Among her many responsibilities were advising on and managing designated legacy remediation sites; assessing and advising on environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions; and providing programmatic support in a number of areas, including audit.

Before joining Pfizer, Glass practiced environmental law at two other firms in New Jersey.

Glass has been active in the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources, serving three consecutive terms as co-chair of the In-House Counsel Committee, followed by a year as the committee’s membership vice chair; she is currently serving in an at-large vice chair capacity on that committee and as an additional (energy justice) vice chair for ABA SEER’s Energy Committee.

She also served in many leadership positions for the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section, including being a founding member of the NJSBA’s Renewable Energy, Cleantech & Climate Change Sub-Committee from 2009 to 2013 and again from 2016 to 2019.

Glass earned her J.D., magna cum laude, and a Certificate in Environmental Law, from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. She holds a B.S., magna cum laude, in applied economics and management, from Cornell University. She is admitted to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
