Noted cardiovascular specialist joins Jersey City Medical Center as division chief of cardiovascular services

Jersey City Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, recently announced the appointment of Dr. Kimberly Skelding as division chief of cardiovascular services.

In her new role, Skelding will oversee the cardiovascular program, with a particular focus on enhancing structural heart, interventional and cardiovascular surgery programs and identifying opportunities for growth and innovation; her clinical interests are in interventional and structural cardiology, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements and women’s heart health.

In addition to her administrative leadership role, Skelding will see patients as part of the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group network of providers and will see patients in Suite 450 at 377 Jersey Ave. in Jersey City.

“In addition to her extensive clinical knowledge, Dr. Skelding’s track record as cardiac leader will enhance Jersey City Medical Center’s structural heart, interventional and cardiovascular surgery programs as she identifies opportunities for growth and innovation,” Michael Prilutsky, CEO and president, Jersey City Medical Center, and interim president of the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group, said. “The addition of Dr. Skelding to the RWJBarnabas Health heart and vascular team extends the organization’s commitment to healing, enhancing and investing in Hudson County.”

“We are proud to welcome Dr. Skelding to our team in Hudson County, as her expertise in cardiovascular research, clinical care and service line leadership will be an incredible asset to our community,” Dr. Richard Savel, chairman of the Department of Medicine at Jersey City Medical Center, said.

Board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, Skelding was previously structural heart lead at Confluence Health in Wenatchee, Washington. Skelding has also held leadership roles such as director of cardiovascular service line at Druid City Hospital System in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and director of the Women’s Heart & Vascular Health and Structural Heart Program at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.
