A Clifton accounting and advisory firm will be awarding $15,000 to a not-for-profit organization in the New Jersey/New York City metro area.
Sax LLP announced its first annual Founder’s Award, which will go to the organization that can best demonstrate its efforts toward obtaining sustainability.
The award is in honor of Sax founders Sander Sax, Morris Macy and Egon Fromm, and pays homage to their vision for advancing organizations by advising them in the key areas critical to their success.
“The Founder’s Award demonstrates our passion to propel nonprofits forward, while raising awareness for the importance of sustainability,” said Todd Polyniak, leader of Sax’s Not-for-Profit Practice. “Our team focuses on providing cutting-edge advisory solutions and concrete resources tailored to the not-for-profit community, and our aim is to make this $15,000 gift to a nonprofit for stability an annual tradition.”
Applicants must submit either an essay or nonprofessional video to demonstrate how their organization has become sustainable, or ideas and/or measures they plan to implement to obtain sustainability. Sustainability can mean financial stability, or sustaining the population they serve through their organization’s mission.
All 501(c)(3) organizations can access the Founder’s Award application package here. The deadline is Nov. 30.
The winner will be announced at the invitation-only Founder’s Award ceremony at the end of January at The Chart House in Weehawken. The event will consist of food and drinks donated by Arthur J. Gallagher.
Two runners-up will be given consolation prizes and recognition.
The panel of judges who will determine the winner consists of independent consultants that have a concrete background in the not-for-profit sector, and understand what it takes and means to be sustainable.
Keynote speaker is Gian Paul Gonzalez, a former NCAA first team All-American, NBA Summer League player, New Jersey Hero Award recipient, and founder of the Hope + Future Foundation, which provides opportunities for youth to proactively become empowered members of their community.
