Trump Appoints Alina Habba as Interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey

President Donald Trump has appointed Alina Habba, his longtime personal attorney and legal adviser to his campaign, as the Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, effective immediately. Habba, a New Jersey native and former managing partner at Habba Madaio & Associates, has been a key figure in Trump’s legal team, representing him in high-profile civil and criminal cases.

Trump called Habba’s appointment “a great pleasure,” praising her as someone who “will fight tirelessly to secure a legal system that is both fair and just for the wonderful people of New Jersey,” according to a post on his Truth Social account.

“I am honored to serve my home state of New Jersey as Interim U.S. Attorney and I am grateful to President Trump for entrusting me with this tremendous responsibility,” she wrote on X. “Just like I did during my time as President Trump’s personal attorney, I will continue to fight for truth and justice. We will end the weaponization of justice, once and for all.”

Habba is a self-described Jersey Girl and a mother of three children who lives in Summit.

She replaces John Giordano, who is being nominated to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Namibia.

In her statement, Habba emphasized her commitment to justice reform and fair legal practices, vowing to “end the weaponization of justice.”

A graduate of Widener University Commonwealth Law School, Habba has extensive experience in civil litigation and corporate law. Her appointment signals a continued focus on legal oversight and policy shifts under the Trump administration.
