Flutie Foundation, Jersey Mike’s collaborate on autism fund

The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism and Jersey Mike’s Subs have announced the creation of a fund to help the autism community that includes New Jersey.

To reach the milestone of earning 100,000 Jersey Mike’s Shore Points through its “Meals for Autism” program, the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism will purchase the final sub and present a check to launch a fund that benefits the autism community. This will take place at the Jersey Mike’s Subs store at 901 Richmond Ave. in Point Pleasant Beach on June 10 at 2:30 p.m.

The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation is named after the autistic son of Doug Flutie, a former professional football quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner who played for the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League in 1985.

Representatives from Jersey Mike’s, the Flutie Foundation and local organizations scheduled to attend the event include Nick Savarese; executive director, Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism; Chad Faulkner, Brian Deeth, and Owen Herrington, area directors for Jersey Mike’s Subs; local autism community groups and musical performers.

Meals for Autism is a year-round program where the Flutie Foundation buys Jersey Mike’s subs for people with autism, their families, and the organizations that serve them. This year the foundation is doing a meal-a-day nationwide effort as part of this program, each day purchasing subs for one family at Jersey Mike’s store in the U.S.

Jersey Mike’s and the Flutie Foundation are long time partners: This year’s Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving in March 2025 raised more than $1 million for the foundation, increasing the total raised in five years of the partnership to over $2.1 million to support the autism community.

Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised more than $175 million for local charities in the last decade alone.
