Wayne-based Patriot Pickle acquires Cosmo’s Food Products, expands pepper and antipasto lines

Patriot Pickle, a Wayne-based manufacturer and distributor serving foodservice and retail customers, has acquired Cosmo’s Food Products, a West Haven, Connecticut-based manufacturer of premium pepper products and antipasto specialties.

The acquisition expands Patriot’s product portfolio and brings together two longstanding, family-rooted businesses, the companies said. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Cosmo’s Food Products was founded in 1944 by the Laudano family and supplies grocers, restaurants and foodservice distributors, according to the announcement. Its offerings include peppers, garlic, olives, mushrooms, artichokes and other marinated vegetables. Products are sold under the Cosmo’s brand and through co-packing partners, the companies said.

Adam Ricci, CEO of Patriot, said the deal is expected to broaden Patriot’s lineup while also supporting operations.

“Cosmo’s broadens our product offerings for both our foodservice and retail customers, while also increasing our manufacturing capacity and efficiency,” said Ricci. “This positions us to deliver even greater value and reliability to our customers.”

Cosmo Laudano, president of Cosmo’s Food Products, said the acquisition represents a next step for the family business.

“My family has been dedicated to building this company and serving our customers,” said Laudano. “Joining Patriot marks an important next step for our business and ensures continuity for our employees, our customers, and our brand.”

Patriot Pickle manufactures and distributes pickles, peppers and other fermented food products for the foodservice and grocery retail markets, offering a range of cuts, flavors and packaging formats, including foodservice pails, retail quarts and single-serve pouches.

The company was founded in 2004 to supply customers with fresh pickles year-round and serves restaurants, delis, supermarkets and distributors across North America.
