ROI-NJ CEO to discuss AI, media evolution on ‘State of Affairs with Steve Adubato’

ROI-NJ CEO and Publisher Tom Hughes will appear this weekend on “State of Affairs with Steve Adubato,” joining a discussion on the future of journalism, the evolving media landscape and the growing role of artificial intelligence in newsrooms.

During the segment, Hughes will share insights on how media organizations are adapting content delivery to engage younger audiences, respond to shifting consumption habits and responsibly integrate artificial intelligence into editorial and business operations. The conversation will also explore how technology is reshaping storytelling, distribution and audience expectations across digital platforms.

Hughes leads ROI-NJ, a New Jersey-based business news organization focused on delivering timely, relevant coverage to executives, policymakers and industry leaders across the state. Under his leadership, the publication has expanded its digital reach, introduced new verticals and newsletters, and invested in modern publishing tools to meet the demands of a rapidly changing media environment.

The episode will also feature Linda Schwimmer, president and CEO of The Quality Institute, discussing vaccine policy and the importance of trusted messengers in public health, as well as Dr. Patricia Campos Medina, president of Latina Civic Action, who will address priorities facing New Jersey’s Hispanic population.

“State of Affairs with Steve Adubato” airs on NJ PBS and Thirteen/WNET at the following times:

  • Saturday: 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on NJ PBS; 8:30 a.m. on Thirteen/WNET

  • Sunday: 8 a.m. and noon on NJ PBS
