Reputation Institute names 9 N.J. firms to 2018 Global RepTrak 100

Reputation Institute, a provider of reputation measurement and management services, announced its annual Global RepTrak 100 rankings, and nine New Jersey companies made the list of 100 businesses around the world with the best reputations.

The study uses comparative rankings and demographic trends to show what drives trust and identifies supportive behaviors, such as intent to purchase a product, willingness to invest in, or work for, the company.

“The reputation bubble has burst. Companies are down by an average of 1.4 points globally, representing the first major decline since the end of the Great Recession,” said Stephen Hahn-Griffiths, executive partner and chief research officer for Reputation Institute.

The New Jersey companies and their ranks are:

  1. BMW Group (Woodcliff Lake, U.S. headquarters)
  1. Panasonic (Newark, U.S. HQ)
  1. Johnson & Johnson (New Brunswick)
  1. Campbell Soup Co. (Camden)
  1. Novo Nordisk (Plainsboro, U.S. HQ)
  1. Mars Inc. (based in Virginia but with major operations in Hackettstown and coming to Newark)
  1. Bayer (Whippany, U.S. HQ)
  1. Honeywell (Morris Plains)
  1. Sanofi (Bridgewater, U.S. HQ)

The Top 10 companies overall:

  1. Rolex
  1. LEGO Group
  1. Google
  1. Canon
  1. The Walt Disney Co.
  1. Sony
  1. Adidas
  1. Robert Bosch
  1. BMW Group
  1. Microsoft

“There is a growing crisis of trust in the world, especially among big companies making record profits,” Hahn-Griffiths said. “These companies are increasingly judged on aspects of their morality and ethics. Today, companies are more widely scrutinized based on their alignment with social causes, how they behave, their enterprise-wide values and the internal culture they create — they are not solely measured on what they make or how they make it.”
