New Jersey added 3,500 private-sector jobs in April, the fifth straight month at or above that benchmark, but also the lowest total in that time period, according to Roseland-based ADP.
The human resources and payroll company said in its monthly Regional Employment Report — the final one it is producing, it added — that Garden State employment rose 0.1 of a percent for the month.
The services sector added 2,900 jobs, while the goods-producing sector added 500 positions.
The leading industry for the month was professional and business services, which added 1,000 jobs.
New Jersey’s gains did fall short of neighboring New York, which grew employment by 0.12 of a percent, and Pennsylvania, which saw jobs growth of 0.11 of a percent.
