Executive Women of New Jersey is accepting applications for its 2019 Graduate Merit Award Program, it announced Wednesday.
The program awards scholarships to women who are non-traditional graduate students attending New Jersey colleges and universities.
The deadline to apply is April 30.
“At EWNJ, we are committed to supporting and empowering the many women who demonstrate strong leadership potential,” Barbara E. Kauffman, president of Executive Women of New Jersey and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Newark Regional Business Partnership. “The Graduate Merit Award Program advances our mission of increasing gender diversity on boards and in senior corporate leadership by establishing a pipeline of future women leaders equipped with the tools needed to ascend. Our goal is to ensure that women have equal access to opportunity, and we are committed to removing as many barriers and creating as many pathways as possible to achieve it.”
Since the program began, it has provided more than $1.3 million in tuition assistance EWNJ said.
“Often, the greatest obstacle that our Graduate Merit Award recipients confront in attaining advanced degrees is the tremendous cost. Many of our past recipients have overcome substantial personal and financial hardships, which is a testament to their drive. That is why we are honored to have the opportunity to lessen some of their financial burden, and allow them to focus on completing their degrees,” Susan Dromsky-Reed, chair of the EWNJ Scholarship Committee and member at Brach Eichler LLC, said.
In addition to the EWNJ-funded awards, scholarships are donated by RWJBarnabas Health, PSEG, Janssen and Lowenstein Sandler. The average scholarship amount is $5,000, EWNJ said.
