Kevin McCabe leaving CCT to join River Crossing consulting firm

Kevin McCabe is leaving the Carpenter Contractor Trust to join River Crossing Strategy Group, heading up a new Public Affairs Division at the Trenton consulting firm.

McCabe, who will be a partner with the firm co-founded by Eric Shuffler and the late Jamie Fox, is currently president of the CCT, leading a recent marketing, rebranding and repositioning effort for the union.

“Kevin and I share a passion for good government, practical politics and the Mets,” Shuffler, formally a principal with River Crossing, said in a prepared statement. “Kevin is one of the state’s smartest political strategists and brings a wealth of marketing experience, governmental and political insights and relationships to the firm.”

McCabe is also a former commissioner of the state’s Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and serves on the board of commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and as chairman of the Middlesex County Democratic Organization.

He was recently named to the ROI Influencers Power List 2020 in the Unions category.

“Jamie Fox and I built our business by combining intense client service with keen insight and strategic guidance,” Shuffler said. “Kevin embodies those values and Jamie was extremely proud of his development into one of New Jersey’s top political leaders. I know Jamie would be ecstatic that Kevin is joining the firm to build upon what we started.”

River Crossing is a full-service government affairs firm that intends to build out its capabilities in grassroots and coalition building, crisis communications and more through the Public Affairs Division, it said in a news release.

“Eric and I have been friends for nearly 20 years, since our time working together in the (Gov. Jim) McGreevey administration, and I am thrilled to be joining a firm that he and his colleagues have already established as a powerhouse in New Jersey and the region,” McCabe said in a statement.

“I am also grateful for the opportunities and experience afforded to me by the Carpenter Contractor Trust, who for so many years has provided me with management and leadership experience that I intend to put in service of this exciting new chapter of my career.”

River Crossing also announced that Yasmin Brissac is joining the firm, working in a variety of roles, from lobbying to public affairs. She is a 2017 Rutgers University graduate who has recently held several positions with the Middlesex County Democratic Organization.

“Yasmin is a rising political talent, and will bring significant capabilities to the firm,” Shuffler said.

Both McCabe and Brissac will formally join River Crossing in mid-April.
