EOS Energy Storage, an Edison-based maker of battery systems, has an agreement to provide systems to International Electric Power LLC for projects in Texas, it announced this week.
The company, which makes low-cost, long-duration zinc hybrid cathode battery energy storage systems, entered into a binding agreement to supply 1 gigawatt hour of standalone BESS technology to IEP for grid-connected projects with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
The company said it will design and deliver multiple solutions starting in the third quarter of 2021.
“ERCOT is an important and growing market for energy storage,” Balki Iyer, EOS’ chief commercial officer, said in a prepared statement. “Long-term energy storage will help mitigate massive investments that are needed in transmission facilities to relieve congestion.”
Financial terms were not disclosed.
