Stockton University has established a task force to explore ways it can expand its School of Business in Atlantic City, it announced Wednesday.
The Galloway-based university has a campus in the city, and is hoping to provide more internship and employment opportunities for students, as well as develop a series of events there, it said in a news release.
The Presidential Task Force, called by President Harvey Kesselman, will be chaired by Raymond Ciccone, chair of the university’s board of trustees and a 1979 graduate of the business program. The partner with Ciccone, Koseff & Co. in Ocean County is a specialist in accounting for the hospitality industry.
“Stockton gave me the skills I needed to succeed,” Ciccone said in a prepared statement. “The task force will create new opportunities for students entering the workforce today, and help us prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow.”
Alphonso Ogbuehi, dean of the School of Business, said the school hopes to raise its profile through its Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management Studies undergraduate program, its MBA program and affiliates including the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism and the Small Business Development Center.
“Through partnerships with groups like the Greater Atlantic City Chamber, we hope to expose our students to the many different opportunities available to them, and provide mentorships and internships in the community,” Ogbuehi said in a statement. “We also want the public to be more aware of the services we offer through LIGHT and the Small Business Development Center.”
Members of the 20-person task force include:
- Lori Herndon, CEO and president of AtlantiCare;
- Elizabeth Terenick, senior project manager for Atlantic City Development Corp.;
- Michael Chait, president of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber;
- Frank Formica, former Atlantic County freeholder;
- Michael L. Salad, attorney with Cooper Levenson;
- Andy Dolce, Stockton trustee; and
- Faculty and staff members from the School of Business, development and alumni relations.
