Choose New Jersey issues RFI for services to support immigrants seeking employment

Concierge services, provided on arrival, include housing support, English language services and employment assistance for legal immigrants

In a further demonstration of the state’s commitment to a diverse workforce, Choose New Jersey has released a Request for Information from qualified vendors for concierge services for recently arrived, highly skilled, professional, technical and globally mobile legal immigrants.

Choose officials say this first-in-the-nation service will facilitate a smooth transition for highly skilled legal immigrants into the state by offering assistance with critical services outside of traditional immigration advocacy and legal advice.

Vendors will be expected to provide concierge services including, but not limited to:

  • Housing support
  • English language services
  • Employment assistance
  • Cultural orientation
  • Essential activities related to settlement

The RFI does not include immigration attorney services or specific visa advocacy. The vendor will work to provide services and support offered by Choose New Jersey both in-state and through its international offices in India, the Asia Pacific, Europe, Israel, and Ireland.

Vendors interested in responding to this RFI should submit their information electronically by March 7. More information can be found here.

Gov. Phil Murphy said the RFI – and the services that could come from it – will be impactful.

“This initiative positions New Jersey as a national leader in workforce innovation, ensuring that our state not only attracts the best global talent but also provides them with the resources to thrive,” he said.

“By offering skilled immigrants critical support, we’re strengthening our economy, empowering our communities, and reinforcing New Jersey’s status as ‘The World’s State,’ the ultimate destination for businesses and workers seeking unmatched opportunity and success.”

Choose New Jersey CEO Wes Mathews agreed.

“As a national workforce leader, New Jersey continues to attract skilled workers from around the globe,” he said. “We have an opportunity now to support immigrant workers who contribute to the world-class talent in our state.

“Choose New Jersey’s Arrival Concierge Services will position us for success in 2025 and beyond by ensuring that New Jersey remains the top choice for companies looking to expand to a state with unrivaled access, connection, and opportunity.”

The state’s foreign-born residents comprise more than 24 percent of the population and 29 percent of its labor force, making up more than $85 billion in spending power. One-third of New Jersey business owners are immigrants, generating over $4 billion in revenue.
