Cooper, Inspira Neuroscience team completes N.J.’s first fully endoscopic laminectomy using new technology

Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience said Oct. 28 that they completed New Jersey’s first fully endoscopic laminectomy using the dualPortal solution from Amplify Surgical Inc.

The procedure, which they described as a medical milestone and groundbreaking, was performed by Dr. Alejandro J. Lopez and the neurosurgical team at Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience.

The dualPortal surgical solution represents a significant advancement in minimally invasive spine surgery. Unlike traditional open laminectomy, the two-portal endoscopic approach provides surgeons with enhanced visibility and greater precision, allowing them to perform a wider range of spine procedures safely and effectively.

“This new technology allows us to treat spinal conditions with even less tissue disruption, resulting in faster recovery and improved outcomes for our patients,” said Lopez. “We’re proud to be leading the way in bringing the latest minimally invasive spine techniques to patients here in New Jersey.”

In using dualPortal, surgeons can achieve a broader view of spinal anatomy and increased surgical flexibility. This translates to shorter hospital stays, reduced postoperative pain and a quicker return to daily activities for patients.

This milestone highlights Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience’s ongoing commitment to advancing neurological and spine care through innovation, research, and collaboration between Cooper University Health Care and Inspira Health.

Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience brings together the expertise and advanced technology of Cooper University Health Care and Inspira Health. The partnership offers access to leading specialists, advanced treatments and the latest innovations in brain and spine care.

Amplify Surgical is an Irvine, Calif.-based company whose mission is to revolutionize minimally invasive spine surgery through surgical procedures that improve safety and outcomes.
