PFC Allen H. Katz honored at New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and Museum

Late U.S. Army soldier added to Memorial Wall during April 27 ceremony in Holmdel

On Sunday, April 27,  the name of U.S. Army Private First-Class Allen H. Katz was added to the Memorial Wall at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and Museum in Holmdel. Color guards from the Secaucus Police Department, the New Jersey National Guard and the U.S. Navy Sea Cadets opened the ceremony.

Among the speakers paying tribute to Katz at the ceremony was Rabbi Melinda Panken from Temple Shaari Emeth in Englishtown.

Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh honors Katz, who was born and raised in the city and attended Eastside High School before entering military service.
Katz’s name was not originally entered on the wall because his family had moved to California when Katz entered military service and the California address was his home of record when he fell in Vietnam.

N.J. Representative Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) completes her tribute to Katz with a presentation to Amy Osborn, chief executive officer of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Museum.

A contingent of veterans from Paterson were among the honored guests who came to pay tribute to Katz.
It was veterans from Paterson that pointed out Katz was a New Jersey native and should be honored on the Memorial Wall.

Katz’s name is unveiled on the Memorial Wall by Paterson veterans Tony Vancheri and Dominic Sabol.

U.S. Army Private First-Class Allen H. Katz became the 1,565th name to appear on the Memorial Wall at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Museum. The wall contains the names of every New Jerseyan who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Vietnam War.
