World Insurance acquires Conn. agency

World Insurance Associates has acquired a Connecticut insurance agency, it announced Monday.

Tinton Falls-based WIA, which has made numerous acquisitions in recent months, said it has added the Watts Group LLC of West Hartford, a surety bond and property & casualty agency serving the New England region.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The Watts Group is an excellent complement to our current surety bonds business,” co-founder and CEO Rich Eknoian said in a prepared statement. “Mike (Watts) and the rest of the leadership team are well-known in the industry as subject matter experts in the surety space. We are excited to welcome them to our team.”

Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla provided legal counsel to WIA, while Andros, Floyd & Miller provided legal counsel to the Watts Group.
