Attending the VOICE Summit, the largest voice-tech event of the year — featuring more than 125 top industry speakers — would figure to be enough for those looking to break into the business of the fast-changing technology that is revolutionizing how people live and work.
It now appears attendees may actually get hired into the field at the event, which runs Tuesday to Thursday at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
Last week, the leaders of the VOICE Summit, which is sponsored by Amazon Alexa and other leading companies such as Microsoft, Yext and Panasonic, said it would be providing a massive recruitment opportunity for developers. Leading companies, including Audible, Prudential, Panasonic and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, are hiring in combination for more than 250 open positions for high-paying tech jobs.

Throughout the conference, developers can visit the recruiting room and hear from Audible, Prudential, Panasonic and other high-caliber companies about their employer brand, company culture and opportunities. Companies will offer 30- to 45-minute sessions that will be both informative and interactive, giving a sneak peek into what it’s like to work for these top brands.
On Thursday, developers will experience the excitement of speed recruiting in a fast-paced, dynamic event, taking place just prior to the rooftop closing reception. Each person will have eight minutes at each employer’s table to hear about current opportunities, what they’re looking for in the hiring process, and get 1-on-1 networking with their internal recruiters.
Pete Erickson, founder of Modev and VOICE, said the job fair just made sense.
“This event is a rare occasion for developers and companies to meet and engage around this fast-moving industry shift,” he said. “It’s going to be an amazing chance for all parties involved, as we are combining vision for the industry with hands-on training and employment opportunities.
“Everyone in attendance is like-minded in their desire to stay ahead of the impending disruptions that voice-first technology is catalyzing.”
VOICE is expected to bring together more than 1,500 software developers, designers, C-level executives, leading brands, agencies and media companies focused on the next generation of applications that leverage conversational input via voice and chat.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said the fact that VOICE is coming to his city says a lot about how Newark is becoming a tech hub. More so, he said, the job fair will show residents how they can become a part of this fast-moving technology.
“The people at the cutting edge of voice technology are coming together in Newark, New Jersey, to discuss and plan how it will transform our world,” he said. “At the same time, VOICE is providing an invaluable opportunity to recruit Newark residents for the tech jobs of the future and for residents to learn about a technology that will shape our future.
