Red Bank parent media company acquired by CertifiKID

CertifiKID, a Maryland-based parental media company, has acquired Red Bank-based Hulafrog, a digital media company in the same kids-activity market, it announced this week.

Hulafrog, which was founded by Sherry Lombardi and Kerry Bowbliss in 2010, helps parents find activities in the local community and nationwide. Its offerings include both parent-focused digital media and advertising, as well as national editorial offerings.

“We believe we have found the ideal home for Hulafrog with (co-founders) Jamie (Ratner), Brian (Ratner) and the CertifiKID family,” Lombardi, the CEO, said in a prepared statement. “Parents love Hulafrog for its fun and informative email newsletters, comprehensive event calendars, family-friendly deals and local directories of resources for kids and families. CertifiKID’s team, community and subscribers share this passion. We are confident their leadership will result in further growth and even greater success for our loyal readers, editors and advertisers.”

CertifiKID, which offers discounts on family experiences and childrens’ activities, adds Hulafrog to brands that include its national website and the Macaroni KID digital media and advertising platform.

“We are thrilled to welcome Hulafrog to the CertifiKID family, and look forward to leveraging the tremendous capabilities each of our companies has built over the past decade to deliver an unparalleled menu of hyperlocal and national content and deals to our parent members and business partners across the country,” Jamie Ratner, the CEO, said in a statement.

CertifiKID will integrate the Hulafrog platform and focus on growing the Hulafrog Today newsletter, it said. Lombardi and Bowbliss will stay on in an advisory capacity throughout the year.
